Yes! Can you believe it has been one year since the 75th Annual UOL Convention? We are on a roll and will be having our second in person convention in a row! The 76th Annual UOL Convention Committee is working hard to make your time memorable. Just like the theme of the convention “With God all things are possible!”, the UOL convention committee members are working together from “all over” to “make the convention possible”!
St. Michael Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Scranton, will be our host parish for the convention! Fr. Philip, Pani Matka Beth Harendza & Family and their parishioners are very excited to welcome you to their parish this summer! They will be hosting the UOL Convention for our Sunday Divine Liturgy and Farewell Brunch.
Let’s get back to the beginning of the convention week! The 76th Annual Convention will be a condensed version and begin Thursday evening. After the opening of the convention, “Hospitality Night” will happen at our hotel, hopefully in their spacious outside patio area! Plenty of time for all of us to catch up on what has been happening over the past year! Bring your new & old UOL stories to share!
Friday will allow time for UOL Business Sessions during the day and who knows what else may be planned. Time is still early, and events and schedule are still being determined! However, we do know what will be happening Friday Night! A wonderful “Ukie Bowl” an evening of bowling for all ages at on off-site venue is being planning with lots of surprises! Stay tuned for more information on this event.
Saturday Night of course will be the “Grand Banquet and Ball” held at our hotel. During the day sessions will finish and probably some free time to allow hotel to set up for our banquet. A theme and information for the evening are being finalized. We will be able to dance the evening away to the DJ playing our favorite tunes!
In case you missed it, our hotel for the convention is the Holiday Inn Wilkes Barre- East Mountain. The hotel is a 4-star hotel, with free wi-fi and parking. There are some amazing mountain & valley views from the hotel, so bring your cameras! Two on-site restaurants, swimming pool, and fitness center are a few items available. A bonus, the hotel is easy to reach from I-81! A few local attractions to help in your pre- or post-convention planning you may want to visit, Mohegan Sun Pocono Casino, Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza (Penguins Hockey), Jack Frost & Big Boulder Resorts, 5 area Championship Golf Courses, Montage Mountain Resort/Waterpark, The Shoppes at Montage Mountain Outlets, and Steamtown Mall just to name a few.
